Shipboard control systems live in an environment that punishes everything: vibration, corrosion, shock, humidity, and a documentation discipline that most commercial suppliers aren’t equipped to meet. ACS has supported U.S. Navy programs since the late 1990s, including over 20 years of UNREP system design experience and extensive HVAC and machinery controls expertise.

Mining

Mining is one of the most demanding environments. Period. Rock crushers, pumps, and blowers run at high horsepower, under continuous load, in facilities where unplanned downtime means an entire operation stops. When a belt fails or a bearing goes early, the cost isn’t just the part. It’s the hours to shut down, disassemble, realign, and restart equipment that can weigh thousands of pounds.

ACS builds jackshaft systems and belt tensioning systems specifically engineered for high-horsepower mining equipment. These are not off-the-shelf components adapted to fit. They are engineered products designed around the actual loads, duty cycles, and maintenance realities of mining operations.

The ACS jackshaft and belt tensioner combination reduces bearing loads on both the motor and the driven equipment, extends belt and bearing life, improves drive efficiency, and dramatically cuts the time required to replace belts during scheduled maintenance. A belt change that takes eight hours on a conventional slide-base jackshaft can be completed in a fraction of that time with an ACS tensioned system. That difference adds up quickly across a fleet of crushers or pumps.

ACS sells primarily through OEM crusher and equipment manufacturers, and works directly with their engineers to specify the right system for the application. For existing installations, the belt tensioner is also available as a standalone retrofit product.

Jackshaft Systems: Engineered jackshafts for high-horsepower, belt-driven equipment including rock crushers and large pumping systems. Designed to protect motor bearings and simplify maintenance at 500 horsepower and above.

Belt Tensioning Systems: Automatic tensioning systems that maintain proper belt tension, reduce bearing and belt failures, improve drive efficiency, and cut maintenance time. Available as part of an ACS jackshaft system or as a standalone retrofit.

Industrial

Industrial plants, foundries, and processing facilities need control systems and machine controls that are engineered for how their equipment actually operates, not catalog products adapted to fit an application they weren’t designed for.

ACS builds custom machine controls, PLC-based upgrades, and control panels for industrial equipment including pumps, blowers, compressors, stackers, conveyors, pick-n-place, and specialty production machinery. When a plant is adding a new process, retrofitting aging equipment, or replacing obsolete relay logic, ACS can handle the controls engineering from requirements definition through installation and commissioning.

The same engineering standard of excellence ACS implements for Navy programs applies here. Every project is built with clear engineering accountability, complete documentation, and a working understanding of how the control system fits into the broader equipment and process it’s driving.

Machine Controls: Custom PLC-based controls for new equipment installations, process additions, and specialty machinery. ACS has experience across a range of industrial equipment types, including foundry core box machines, sheet stackers, high-horsepower drive systems, and condition based monitoring systems.

Obsolete Relay Logic Replacement: Engineering and documentation support for facilities replacing aging relay-based control systems, including DLA-compatible documentation where applicable.

Utility and Commercial

Small and mid-sized utilities need relay control panels, recloser controls, and battery enclosure systems, but the large panel suppliers aren’t interested in low-volume orders. ACS is. We’ve built a focused capability around the utility market specifically because it’s underserved at the order quantities that matter to co-ops, municipalities, and independent power providers.

On the commercial side, ACS brings the same engineering discipline developed in Navy programs, to industrial facilities and plant operations that need custom control panels built to perform.

Why Environment Defines the Engineering

A control panel that works in a climate-controlled facility is not the same product as one that works on a ship, in a mine, or in a utility substation. ACS engineers with the actual operating environment as the design constraint, not as a footnote.

Shipboard:

Salt air, vibration, EMI, shock loads, and documentation scrutiny that doesn't stop at delivery. Systems have to pass qualification, install cleanly, and perform for the life of the vessel.

Underground Mining:

Continuous dust, extreme shock and vibration, high-horsepower loads, and no tolerance for downtime. Systems have to run, and when maintenance is required, it has to be fast.

Utility Substations:

Long service life requirements, standards compliance, and field installation realities that don't match lab conditions. Systems have to be right the first time. There's no easy retrofit window.

Industrial Facilities:

Heat, vibration, cleanliness standards, production rates, and scheduling constraints that compress installation windows. Systems have to install on plan and run without forcing unscheduled maintenance.
